Interview with Onibalusi Bamidele

I had a chance to ask few business questions to Onibalusi regarding setting up online business as a young entrepreneur. I have been following Onibalusi for a while, as he does allot of guest post on other blogs, and inspired how he has built up his online business.

Onibalusi, for those that haven’t come across you and your work, tell us a bit about yourself and how you started YoungPrePro.

Thanks a lot for the interview opportunity Wasim. I’m Bamidele Onibalusi, a young blogger and writer, and the founder of My main aim with YoungPrePro is to teach people how to write for traffic and money.

I started YoungPrePro in April 2010, initially to help young and upcoming entrepreneurs, but my dreams evolved over time, and my blog is now focused on helping people benefit from their writing using my own personal experience.

Being so young, where do you get your motivation and drive from?

I guess I was just passionate enough to do anything to avoid the rat race. I have never wanted to work for anyone, and seeing that the internet can help me achieve success irrespective of who I am, and where I’m from, makes me even determined to do something to get results.

Many young entrepreneurs make mistakes and learn from these mistakes, what mistakes have you made and what have you learnt from them.

I’ve made quite a lot of mistakes, but I can hardly remember any because I don’t see them as mistakes; instead, I see them as a learning experience. One thing I’ll advise, though, is that you shouldn’t be wary of your mistakes; instead, you should look for ways to learn from them and move ahead no matter how often you fall.

I see you write a lot, you have lots of guest posts published on a monthly biases, at the same time also writing for your own business. Where do you get all the time from, and I’m sure there’s studying and other stuff too. Share us you secret about time management.

Aha, there really is no secret. It’s all about cutting out the distractions and having the determination to do whatever it takes to succeed.

For 2012 what tips would you give entrepreneurs on managing their online business?

FOCUS; on just one thing. Don’t try another, and don’t give up till you get results.

Which books do you read generally or would recommend business owners to read?

– The Way to Wealth by Benjamin Franklin
– How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

Whom would you say has inspired or encouraged you the most?

There isn’t really one person that has inspired me a lot, but there is something; that something is my goals, and the future I want to achieve.

If you had a chance to go back into 2011 and do one thing differently, what would it be and why?

Nothing! Why? I love my current state, not because it is the best, but because it is a foundation to my future, as my past is the foundation to where I am now. If given an opportunity, I won’t go back in time to fix any of my mistakes.

What would you define as being successful?

I don’t think there is any fixed definition of success, but according to me, I think you’re successful when you achieve your goals.

Just like any business online or offline, marketing plays a big part in the success of your business, how do you go about marketing and promoting your blog and business?

Marketing should be about giving value first, then advertising. I focus on providing value to my readers first, and then using other blogs/websites as a medium to spread the word about myself.

How would you describe your life as an entrepreneur in one word.

You do a lot of writing, what process do you follow to come up with new and exciting topics to write about.

It’s quite a simple process, but I think readers will be able to benefit more by reading a comprehensive article I did about it on my blog.

What’s your thoughts on Social Media generally, for business owners?

I think it shouldn’t be ignored.

How much time do you spend on your business every week, and do you follow a set routine?

I currently don’t have a fixed time. I only follow the momentum and work for how long my passion leads me.

What’s your plans for the next 5 years, and where do you see yourself and

Aha, I’ve had a lot of plans in the past year, but not everything was as I expected so I don’t have any plans for the next 5 years; I’ll only give my best, and follow the momentum to build my very best.

What’s one piece of advice that you would give to anyone looking to setup an online business?

Don’t give up.
